Eduardo Xol, an actor and designer who appeared on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," has died following an apparent stabbing. He was 58.
Xol appeared on 65 episodes of the ABC television series from 2005 to 2012, according to IMDb. The website credits Xol as being a designer for the show as well as appearing as himself on a dozen other shows from 2005 to 2012. Earlier in his career, Xol appeared in telenovelas like "Acapulco, cuerpo y alma" and "La jaula de oro."
"We are heartbroken at the tragic loss of our beloved Eduardo Xol," his family said in a statement to USA TODAY Wednesday. "As his family, we know that his kindness has touched the lives of so many. We ask for that kindness returned now allowing our privacy to be respected as we process our grief."
TMZ first reported Xol's link to the entertainment industry early Wednesday morning, saying Xol's mother confirmed his death to the outlet.
"It's nearly incomprehensible that I'm writing this post as a goodbye to someone who has been so present, so important in my life," Richard Perez-Feria, former editor-in-chief of People en Español, wrote on Instagram. "When I first learned that Eduardo Xol had passed, I went numb. It didn't square with my thousands of experiences with him. Please don’t ask me how or why at this point…what matters most is who he was: A talented, beautiful, passionate friend, brother, son and partner."

He continued: "The millions of laughs, hopes and secrets we shared remain at the fore of my thoughts. I want to honor my dear friend and celebrate his life as one that mattered to so many. He certainly mattered to me. Sending healing love at this horrific time to his circle of friends and family who loved him so. Sadly, tomorrow isn’t promised. Love each other. Rest in peace, Eduardo."
General Hospital' actor Johnny Wactor’scause of death revealed
According to the Riverside County coroner, Xol died at 12:19 p.m., Friday, at Desert Regional Medical Center. He was injured at 5:41 a.m. on Sept. 10, the same time the Palm Springs Police Department received a report about an injured man.
Officers responded to the call and discovered a man in an apartment suffering from significant injuries who told them he had been stabbed, although he didn't identify the assailant, police said in a news release.
Officers later arrested Richard Joseph Gonzales, 34, after he called police claiming to have been assaulted the previous night. Gonzales was initially booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of attempted murder.
Following Xol's death, police have requested a murder charge be filed against him. He was being held without bail.
In lieu of flowers, Xol's family asks "that donations be made in Eduardo's name to the Lupus Foundation of America as he spent so much time of his life in the service of others."
